Unbeautiful Amsterdam
a photography project
A visual project showing a less known part of Amsterdam. This series focuses on the city’s affordable post-war social housing developments, which are often ignored in popular stories about Amsterdam’s historic beauty. Located close to the famous canals and Golden Age buildings, these areas show a clear difference: plain buildings made from economic needs and fast urban growth. The project aims to show the atmosphere, architecture, and daily life in these spaces, presenting a different view from the romanticized image of the city.
