This installation started in its earliest form in 1990 and evolved to its final configuration in 1992.
‘Hypercorrection’ is depicting a world of exploration and interpretation. The images are set into the ‘frames’ of a classroom and a library; places of instruction and knowledge. There is also an object referring to a psalm board, an object telling what to sing, but without any prescribed information. Furthermore, there is a larger construction with imagery from information visualization (pie charts) and on the other side of the board mind mapping exercises.
At that time I was in training for, and working in education. Also, my studio was a former classroom, with a school board. I started using the board to set up ideas and images. The medium was a drawing board for capturing thinking and formulating the questions I encountered in the process.
After a while, I merged the schoolboard concept with the spaces of a library, classroom etc.
